See how God works all things for good

I hope y’all are having a great start to this new year and already noticing how God works all things for good.

Over the last few days, I have been meditating on one of God’s attributes that I believe is so phenomenal.

God is so good that He literally never wastes any opportunity to turn an evil situation into good.

Some music artists make this attribute so graphic when they describe God as the One who turns ashes into beauty, graveyards into gardens, deserts into rivers, and dry bones into armies.

I sometimes wonder why Satan doesn’t give up already since He knows that God works all things for good, and will always frustrate all his efforts.

I guess Satan is not as smart as we think He is after all!

Four of the several scenarios that I have been meditating on, showing that God works all things for good, include:

  • Joseph being sold into slavery (an evil thing) being turned around for good—by God—to preserve the Israelites in Egypt during the great famine.
  • Paul’s thorn in the flesh (an evil thing), which God turned around for good in preventing him from becoming proud, so much so that Paul began to rejoice in the infirmity.
  • The man who was born blind (an evil thing), which God turned around for good, by healing Him through Jesus, so that His healing could bring glory to God.
  • My cancer diagnosis (an evil thing), which God turned around for good in deepening my relationship with Him and continuing to use it to bring hope and life to others.

As I pondered on God’s “unusual” way of doing things, I couldn’t help but notice that sometimes there’s a waiting period which God wants us, His people, to go through before He manifests His goodness in the undesirable situation that we are in.

To us, it may seem like “forever”, but with God, a thousand years is like only twenty-four hours!

Now, God doesn’t let us endure such long periods because He enjoys seeing us suffer, He does so because His strength is made perfect in our weakness, and He alone knows what timeframe is required to complete His work in us.

A typical situation is when we are faced with sickness or disease.

We often cry out to God for healing, as we should.

He hears the prayers of those who are whole-heartedly devoted to Him and He eagerly responds immediately, even though we don’t see Him working.

He takes advantage of our “ears” being more open to His instruction in our weakness than when we feel on top of the world.

And because He desires more for us than the healing of our bodies that will soon become dust, He uses the opportunity to heal our hearts as well—transforming us in much deeper ways as He molds us into the image of His dear Son.

God uses this waiting period, to renew our spiritual strength so that we can rise like eagles, run without becoming weary, and walk without fainting – not necessarily literal, of course.

During this period, He continues to establish us firmer in faith so that we are less likely to derail from the path of eternal life.

God’s work in us brings forth diamonds from the sickness or disease that Satan thought will result in our eternal downfall.

So what should you do while you wait?

You must lean into God’s grace, which is always enough for you, and keep your hope alive by meditating on His promises of eternal life.

You must also keep fighting the good fight of faith by standing firm in your love for God and other people, despite your discomforts.

In addition, you must pray continuously, be as diligent as you can in your wellness practices, and be patient through the waiting process—no matter how long it takes.

And you can definitely learn more about how God can work all things for good in your life.

Eventually, God wins and you do too.

He works all things (including our sicknesses and diseases) together for good for those who love Him (i.e. those who trust and obey Him).

And we will receive our healing, in His own timing, either on this side of eternity or on the other side.

In addition, because we have persevered in faith, we will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised—a life of eternal joy, where we would no longer suffer any sickness, disease, pain, or death ever again!
